Some people age like a good glass of wine. Denzel Washington is like a good glass of red wine, aged to perfection. He stars along with Viola Davis in the Pulitzer Prize winning play, Fences by legendary playwright August Wilson. The movie stars the incomparable Viola Davis and Denzel Washington, who lead an amazing cast in this timeless story.

I didn't know that Denzel could get my blood boiling the way he did. I was mad, threw stuff around the house, and was even pissed at my imaginary boyfriend. Viola was the symbol of strength. She was every woman's hero in soo many ways.

Denzel plays a character named Troy who works as a sanitation worker in the 50s, living in Pittsburgh with his wife. Every Friday he brings home his pay, drinks with his friend and colleague, and talks about his past as a baseball player. His tense relationship with his son comes to blow when he kills his son's chance at a meeting with a college football recruiter. To make matters worse, his infidelity is revealed changing everyone's lives.

I never read the play but honestly, I have never seen a more raw performance than this. Not only do these two actors play off each other well, I found myself drawn into this story. My emotions hit a high point after Troy's reveal and it angered me. I couldn't believe that Denzel could do this....and then I had to remember that this was just a movie.

The film was nominated for many awards: Oscars - Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay; Golden Globes - Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Needless to say, Viola won the majority of awards however, this film should have won for everything. (I'm gonna say it...Denzel was snubbed)

This movie gets 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and a standing ovation! Congrats to Viola because she deserved to win. Denzel should have won an Oscar because his performance was FLAWLESS. Shame on the Academy. There is no one in his league. Absolutely no one! If you haven't seen the movie, go see it. It is timeless!

Despite the upset, Denzel will be back to star in "The Equilizer 2" and I am beyond ecstatic.
