This season was very difficult to digest. We have had 5 seasons of growing and getting to love the characters of Litchfield. Now after the riots, the women are separated and now placed into Litchfield Max and are all brought up on charges of killing Guard Piscatella. Unfortunately for the ladies, no one cares about the truth, they just want scapegoats. Without giving too much away, many of the women have added years to their sentences, been beaten daily, and have had to turn on their “friends”.

My favorite character is Taystee because she has the most heart. After Poussey’s untimely death, I think all fans can say we were rooting for Taystee. I’m still rooting for her even though she was found guilty of killing Piscatella. (Spoiler alert if you haven’t watched it but there was much more to it than that so I didn’t give away anything) But why believe in the truth when the lie is more entertaining? To make matters worse, her friend “Black” Cindy didn’t even come to her defense. I can say that for Season 7 these two will not remain friends. Especially since “Black” Cindy knows the truth and is sitting on viable information! What’s even worse is that she tried to tell the truth but it was too late. Taystee’s only hope is Suzanne aka Crazy Eyes. She knows the truth because she was there. Don’t count her out, she may surprise us in Season 7.
So the deal with Litchfield Max is this. We have B Block for the elderly/special/endangered inmates, C Block led by Barbara Denning and her ace Daddy, and D Block led by Carol Denning and her wacked out ace Badison. The two Denning sisters have a long standing war which we learned was caused by our very own Frieda who has history in this prison. With a war looming all the ladies encounter their own set of problems. Just about everyone turns on Red causing her to sign away her life, Gloria and Maria are at odds over the riot, Badison has it in for Piper, Daddy locks her eyes on Daya.
We see a lot of the women change which will ultimately have a major impact come season 7. But where is Alex? Well, she was splitting her time between the hospital and directing. That’s right, our very own Laura Prepon directed much of Season 6 and I have to give her a round of applause. She didn’t skip a beat and that’s impressive. The entire season wraps up with a game of kickball which was a refresher to watch the women play and have a good time. Especially since, there was no happy ending. Like I said, I’m not going to spoil it for those that have not seen it yet but when you do, just be sure to take it all in. Unfortunately, this is a dark season for the inmates with some light moments.
Oh, and as for “Black” Cindy…she’s on my Most Hated List! I can’t even look at her but I’m ready for Season 7. I also felt that this season was too short. What are your thoughts?
Make sure to watch Season 6 now on Netflix. #BlackPower #FreeTaystee
